thinkers’ ooo Vol. 21-25 collection
thinker launched a new project named “thinkers’ ooo” since 2020. It is a column to share thinkers’ points of view to their favorite brands, some of which are not even well-known to the public. We love the products of course, but it is the brands that we are attracted to and inspired from.
“ooo” means our perspectives, imagination and self statement. Written by the designers and planners themselves, the articles include why we love the brands, how we use the products and what we learn from the stories behind the brands. Here are the first five articles we’ve published. Enjoy!

Giving New Life to the Old – Japanese Lifestyle Brand PUEBCO
My first encounter with PUEBCO began with a fascination for the products themselves. From the items to the brand’s visual storytelling, it’s easy to notice a compelling blend of aesthetics—ranging from bold American vintage to tropical ethnic motifs and rugged outdoor utility. As someone who naturally gravitates toward gender-neutral design, I was immediately drawn to learn more about the brand.
The deeper I explored, the more I was amazed to discover that every PUEBCO product is made by repurposing old materials through thoughtful design. The canvas tote bag I purchased, for example, is crafted from reclaimed materials sourced from India. The handle is made from recycled industrial strapping, complete with irregular wear and marks from past use—imbuing the piece with a sense of history and authenticity. And yet, thanks to the brand’s design sensibility, the bag feels reawakened, as though infused with a new soul.
This sense of transformation and emotional resonance is exactly what I cherish in the buying experience. With PUEBCO, you’re not just purchasing a product—you’re embracing a philosophy of mindful design and appreciation.

PUEBCO
PUEBCO is a Japanese brand deeply inspired by India and expressed through a distinctly American lens. Founded by Yusuke Tanaka, PUEBCO was never about chasing sales—it was born from what many in the industry might consider a “foolish” vision: to bring one’s inner ideas into tangible reality.
The brand collects discarded or aged materials from around the world, refining and redesigning them into objects that quietly narrate the passage of time. This is the soul of PUEBCO: everyday items reborn with a sense of purpose and poetics.
At the heart of the brand are three principles—REBORN, REUSE, and RETURN. Tanaka’s global journeys often lead him to overlooked materials that others may deem worthless. But through his imaginative lens, these fragments are transformed into beautifully unexpected, emotionally rich lifestyle objects that rekindle our appreciation for the things we surround ourselves with.

A Hidden Alpine Escape in the City: Mineral Curation Store “Mountopia”
Most men’s accessories tend to favor silver, but what immediately caught my eye about Mountopia was its unique aesthetic—bracelets crafted from natural minerals, each radiating a distinct character. I soon discovered that these stones are not only visually striking but also believed to carry different energies, giving the accessories deeper meaning beyond adornment.
This time, I chose the No.01 “Flytende – Fountain of Life”, featuring blue dumortierite and titanium, accented with the brand’s signature North Star motif in silver—a perfect complement to my rings. — Sean / Art Director
Mountopia
Mountopia is a mineral curation boutique nestled in the Da’an District of Taipei, designed around the concept of a modern alpine lodge. Breaking away from the traditional image of crystal shops, Mountopia reimagines the experience with a moody, exploratory atmosphere—inviting modern urban dwellers into a mountain sanctuary of minerals and design.
Their first Spring/Summer collection draws inspiration from 12 mystical landscapes, reinterpreted into bracelets that evoke hidden lakes, untamed frontiers, and twilight mountain ranges. Using hand-selected natural stones sourced from around the world, each piece reflects the unique color, texture, and energy of nature, merging spiritual symbolism with contemporary style.

Brewing with Ease and Elegance: Kalita Wave Tsubame 155
Pour-over coffee is how I start my day—it’s a ritual that grounds me. Collecting beautifully made coffee tools has also become a small joy in my daily life. As I became more familiar with the pour-over process, I grew curious about exploring different drippers and brewing techniques to bring out unique coffee flavors. That’s when I first came across wave-style filters, which naturally led me to search for a matching dripper.
For anyone even slightly into coffee, Kalita is a well-known name—a heritage Japanese brand. In 2011, Kalita introduced its signature Wave series, designed to minimize variables and lower the barrier to entry for manual brewing. With the right fundamentals in place, the Wave dripper allows you to easily achieve a clean, balanced cup without complex techniques, making it a perfect starting point for beginners.
When I first saw the Kalita Wave Tsubame 155—crafted in brass and made in Tsubame—I was immediately drawn to its refined, elegant form. I already owned a Kalita brass kettle, so this dripper instantly became my dream addition. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the coffee brewed with the Wave Tsubame 155 has a smooth and pure flavor profile that continues to impress me to this day. — Ariel / Brand Designer
Kalita Made in TSUBAME
The Kalita Wave Tsubame series features wave drippers made from stainless steel and copper, handcrafted by metal artisans in Tsubame, Niigata—a town renowned for its metalwork craftsmanship. Each piece is meticulously polished by hand, and the refined design—from the handle to the base—adds a modern edge to a traditionally functional tool.
The dripper’s signature three-hole bottom structure ensures even extraction, allowing anyone to brew a delicious cup with ease. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design and artisanal quality can transform everyday routines into moments of beauty.

For those of us who love outdoor adventures, finding time for multi-day mountain treks can be a luxury. That’s why I enjoy channeling my passion for the outdoors into my daily wardrobe. I first discovered Topologie through an ad—and was immediately drawn to its clever integration of climbing rope aesthetics into everyday carry bags.
What makes the brand even more engaging is the modular concept: all ropes and bags are sold separately, allowing users to mix and match according to personal style and color preferences. This design system turns each piece into a co-creation between the brand and the user—functional, playful, and full of character. — Ellie / Brand Planner
Topologie
