Reimagining traditional Cantonese dim sum with a fresh contemporary lens

Dim sum culture is deeply embedded in Taiwan’s everyday dining habits, with both long-established eateries and emerging brands shaping the market. After the brand’s transition to a new management team, Dim Sum 8 invited an award-winning Taiwanese chef to redefine its culinary direction. Thinkways supported the full brand refresh—from positioning and concept development to identity creation—crafting a Hong Kong–style dim sum brand that balances “authentic flavor” with “Taiwan’s new aesthetic,” offering a refined yet approachable dining experience.

Brand Concept

Where star-level craftsmanship meets everyday dining

Positioned as “Star Chef · Dim Sum Specialty,” the brand reframes dim sum as both premium and accessible. Balancing tradition with a modern, friendly tone. The design language emphasizes clarity, warmth, and liveliness, enabling the brand to feel both elevated and familiar, making Dim Sum 8 a place where families and food lovers can enjoy quality dim sum with ease.

Logo Design & Application Design

Translating craftsmanship into a tactile visual language

The identity draws inspiration from “dough”—a symbol of the most human, handcrafted stage of Cantonese dim sum. The logotype combines firm structural strokes with rounded terminals to convey resilience and warmth. Supporting materials—including business cards, takeaway boxes, and menus—use kraft textures and black foil printing to evoke artisanal honesty, paired with blue and warm yellow tones to reinforce a friendly, contemporary look. The overall system expresses a handcrafted charm that becomes the brand’s most memorable signature.

Brand Forward

Thinkways extended the brand strategy into spatial and experiential design, ensuring alignment from visual language to in-store atmosphere. Wood textures, rattan elements, and soft warm lighting create a welcoming environment that mirrors the comfort of dim sum. Brand icons and crafted details flow into signage and semi-private rooms, allowing guests to “taste the warmth of design” at every touchpoint. The result establishes Dim Sum 8 as a modern dim sum brand that blends professionalism with human connection.
